Description: Learn everything you need to know about getting your photography published in magazines in this four-week intensive. A great course for photographers and writers alike, this course will cover: editing your photography portfolio, promoting your work, establishing working relationships with magazine photo editors, how to land an assignment, and what an editorial photo assignment entails. We will talk about how to define your personal photography brand, what photo editors look for when reviewing photographers’ portfolios and websites, and what to expect from editorial contracts. We’ll also cover how including the right photographs with your pitch will increase your chances of selling a story. Students will have a chance to discuss their work and vision with photo editors and creative directors. This class is for photographers and writers who want their work to be seen!
Instructor Bio: Ilana Diamond is the Director of Photography at San Francisco Magazine. She is a photo editor by trade and has directed and edited shoots for New York, WIRED, and ReadyMade. She is also a photographer and writer and her work has appeared in The Bold Italic, The New York Times, Dwell.com, and other publications.
