Description: Writing is a craft, and every writer needs a good toolbox. In this class, which is aimed at serious beginners and experienced writers who need to sharpen some of those tools, we will work on developing one aspect of craft per week: Writing from the senses, scene and summary, clutter and clarity, structure, dialogue and quotes, and character. We’ll do in-class exercises, work with examples of good writing, and each student will have an opportunity to workshop a non-fiction piece. Whether you’re looking to write journalism, personal essay, memoir, or a non-fiction book, this class (along with a lot of practice) will make you a better writer.
Instructor Bio: Laura Fraser is the author of two memoirs, the NYT-bestselling An Italian Affair, and the recently-released All Over the Map.
