What: One part hotly energized yoga class, one part fearless creative writing workshop, taking turns with each, blurring the edges of both. What will emerge? How will your voice change? Can a good backbend scandalize your boring syntax?

Why: In this workshop, dynamic asana sequences alternate with bursts of specific writing exercises to explore how a vigorous yoga practice, one that aims to free the body’s locked-up energy, release the ego’s death grip on some of our most entrenched patterns and open up the fifth chakra (Vishuddha) of confident self-expression, can actually inspire and liberate your creative voice. And vice-versa.

Who: The SF Chronicle’s award-winning columnist, author (The Daring Spectacle: Adventures in Deviant Journalism) and ERYT-500 Vinyasa yoga teacher Mark Morford will encourage you to write, then practice, then write again, with some (optional) reading aloud,  and very few group hugs.

Bring a fully charged laptop (or a notebook) a mat and a towel. It’s going to get… verbose.

Caveat: Class space limited to 25. Not for absolute yoga beginners. Assumes moderate level of physical ability and yoga experience. However, all types of creative writers/writing are welcome. Even poets.
