Work in Progress Workshop (with Lindsey Crittenden)

MONDAYS, FEBRUARY 4 —MARCH  11  | Need some structure and community to keep writing?  If you’re looking to generate pages and gain insight into your project – whether fiction, memoir, personal essay, narrative nonfiction, or some combination thereof – set aside five Monday evenings this winter. You’ll find a supportive community designed to foster productivity and good writing habits.  We’ll address specific craft issues as they come up, and I will be available for meeting one-on-one. You’ll have the opportunity to meet in small groups for feedback (with specific guidance), if you choose. Homework assignments are designed to help you meet your goals, wherever you may be in the process.  You’ll leave this workshop with concrete insights into your work-in-progress as well as an implemented writing plan that will enable you to carry on after the class has ended.

This class is designed for writers of all levels. Please come to the first class with a good idea of what you want to work on during this class.

Note: Student who have previously taken this class are welcome to take it again.

Lindsey Crittenden is the author of an award-winning short-fiction collection, The View From Below, and a memoir, The Water Will Hold You (“exquisitely written,” Publishers’ Weekly starred review). Recent short fiction has been published in Mississippi Review and Cimarron Review, and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. An Honored Instructor at U.C. Berkeley Extension, she has taught and helped develop creative writing curriculum for 17 years.
